Hunter Biden confirmed that the Meme coin named LAPTOP will be launched on September 9th, with the deployment network being under Coinbase's Base. Shortly after the news was made public, tokens with the same name or similar names appeared on multiple chains, and the market began trading around this topic before the official launch.

The total token supply is 1 billion tokens.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the total supply of LAPTOP is 1 billion coins, of which 20% is reserved for two rounds of airdrops. The report mentions that some recipients of the airdrops will include wallets that hold TRUMP tokens and have incurred losses.

In addition, the founding team holds 30% of the total supply. This portion of tokens will be locked for 6 months after the launch and then gradually released over the course of two years. Another 20% will be used for liquidity, listing on exchanges, and legal-related expenses. Up to 30% of the tokens may also be destroyed under predetermined conditions, including when Bitcoin reaches a new high, or when the fully diluted valuation of LAPTOP exceeds the market value of TRUMP tokens.

After the message was released, it spread rapidly among imitation traders.

The Defiant citing Dex Screener data indicates that within less than 1 hour after the message was spread, at least 14 counterfeit tokens appeared on Robinhood Chain, Solana, TON, and BNB Chain, involving over 22 trading pools, with a total transaction volume of approximately 6.9 million US dollars.

Among them, one of the most active versions, Robinhood Chain, had a completely diluted valuation of about $535,000, with a single pool transaction volume of $5.43 million and nearly 32,000 transactions. Another token, “Hunter Biden’s Laptop”, which was deployed in Solana as early as January 2024, also saw a 411% increase in value, with its market capitalization rising to about $192,000.

However, none of these tokens are official projects planned to launch on Base on September 9th. Reports indicate that currently, there is no clone platform deployed on Base, and none of them coincide with the official release time.

Official information is still incomplete.

As of the time of this report, Hunter Biden himself has not yet announced the official website, contract address, or a complete token economy description for LAPTOP. His X account has confirmed the launch date, but no on-chain verification information is provided.

This has caused significant confusion in the market. The report also mentioned that since June 27th, there has been a token named LAPTOP trading on Base, which rose by 54% on Monday, with a market value of approximately $51,900. Therefore, it is still unclear whether the official project launched on September 9th will use the same code or address.

From the perspective of the on-chain environment, Base has currently become an active network for Meme coins and high-frequency speculative trading. DefiLlama data shows that the total locked-up value of Base is approximately 5.67 billion US dollars, with a daily DEX trading volume of about 567.2 million US dollars; whereas Robinhood Chain, which undertakes most of the fake trading, has a total locked-up value of about 908.7 million US dollars and a daily DEX trading volume of about 1.61 billion US dollars.

Before the official contract address has been announced, the trading enthusiasm surrounding LAPTOP has already been released in advance, and the situation where both genuine and fake projects coexist may continue in the short term.

CFTC Chairman Says Binance Hacker Attack Indicates That Offshore Exchanges Need US Regulation
Michael Selliger, chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), stated that the $6.4 billion hack incident at Binance “precisely demonstrates” the necessity of the crypto market regulations proposed by the agency this month. He described the attack as being more likely caused by a vulnerability introduced through a laptop rather than a flaw in the blockchain itself; however, Binance later indicated that the investigation had uncovered “more entry points” for the attack.

Intel experiences its largest single-day decline in over forty years; the NASDAQ falls nearly 3%, gold drops to a one-year low, and crude oil continues to rise for four months in a row.
Amazon and Intel's financial reports disappointed the market. Investors are increasingly skeptical about the returns on the huge AI expenditures of these tech giants. All three major U.S. stock indices closed lower, with tech stocks leading the decline, while energy and essential consumer goods sectors performed strongly against the trend. Driven by the Middle East situation, crude oil prices rose to a six-month high; U.S. Treasury yields fell, gold dropped to a one-year low, and Bitcoin lost its support below $77,000.

After Binance was attacked by hackers, how should investors protect the security of their crypto assets?
On October 29, Binance was attacked by hackers, with an estimated loss of $6.3 billion, which has drawn external attention to the recovery of stolen funds, the exchange's compensation commitments, and the lack of a similar deposit insurance protection mechanism for crypto assets like FDIC. Experts say that whether an exchange compensates usually depends on its own willingness and financial capability, and while self-hosting by individuals can reduce some platform risks, it also brings new security hazards.
